Ordino Arcalís, renowned for its quality of snow and variety of mountains, has established itself in recent years as a leading destination for freeride skiing, hosting the Freeride World Tour since 2015.
From February 1 to 6, 2026, Andorra will become the world’s freeride epicenter as it hosts the inaugural FIS World Championships at Ordino Arcalís.
Over a six-day weather window, 67 elite riders will compete in the four official categories (ski and snowboard, men and women), with a single decisive run that will crown the first-ever world champions of the discipline.
With more than a decade as one of the most technical and prestigious venues on the international circuit, Ordino Arcalís reaffirms its role as a freeride benchmark. This historic event will not only bring together the planet’s top freeriders but will also pave the way toward new milestones, such as freeride’s inclusion in future Winter Olympic Games.
At the Freeride World Tour, riders from around the world compete in skiing and snowboarding categories, both in the men's and women's divisions. In recent years, the Andorran station of Ordino Arcalís has hosted the Freeride World Tour, where organizers are always granted a margin to choose the day with the best weather conditions.
In this competition, a jury of professionals evaluates the descents of skiers and snowboarders using a points system based on the skills demonstrated in each run. Athletes accumulate points and have their own podium.
The global circuit features five exclusive events, making it a privilege to be part of the calendar. Ordino Arcalís is one of the chosen venues by the organization, which has consistently highlighted the quality of snow and the wide variety of mountains within the ski domain where the competition takes place. "At Ordino Arcalís, we find many line options, always with good quality snow, and we maintain excellent relationships with those in charge."
The versatility of the slopes, along with the facilities provided for both organizers and participants, are some of the key reasons why it is a preferred stop for freeriders and event organizers. Undoubtedly, Ordino Arcalís is the station that most supports this skiing modality and has clearly established itself as an international reference in this regard.
