Ordino Arcalís, an extraordinary resort

Created in 1983 by the residents of Ordino parish, Ordino Arcalís continues to delight customers 39 years later with its exceptional conditions for practising mountain sports.

Nestled at the head of the Ordino Valley, facing north, it has the best snow conditions every winter. It’s probably the resort that is most likely to open early, giving you the chance to enjoy the longest ski season in the Pyrenees.

It is located in Andorra’s most picturesque valley, uniquely combining all the virtues of this Pyrenees country: an extraordinary landscape and a valley that preserves tradition with great personality, right near the best après-ski in Andorra la Vella with its wide range of recreational activities and shopping. You won’t find it anywhere else.

Ordino Arcalís, discover it

The Ordino resort has 442 hectares of skiable domain, 30.5 km of slopes, 16 ski lifts with capacity to transport 18.110 people per hour, including a Doppelmayr D-Line (2019) cable car, 101 snowmaking cannons, 6 restaurants managed by the resort, parking lots with capacity for 1,500 vehicles, 2 points for hiring equipment,
the Ski and Snow Surfing School and the prestigious Freeride School.

The elevation at Ordino Arcalís ranges from 1,940 m to 2,625 m and there are two different visitor entrances.

Ordino Arcalís offers products and recreational and leisure experiences for all types of customers, from the longest green slope in the Pyrenees to slopes and difficulty levels that are perfect for more expert skiers.

There are many national and international events and competitions organised at the resort. One of the most important is the Freeride World Tour, the leading event in the world of Freeriding.

The Ordino resort is one of the global epicentres of off-slope skiing, with 21 areas and 130 routes divided into three categories according to difficulty level. Due to its alpine features and advantageous location, protected from the wind and at elevations of up to 2,630 m, Arcalís is a paradise for freeriders.

Tristaina Solar viewpoint

You can't miss in Ordino Arcalís the viewpoint–sundial located on the peak of Peyreguils, at an altitude of 2,701 metres and a few metres from the geographical border between Andorra and France. This peak is part of the Tristaina cirque, along with the Costa Rodona, Tristaina, Creussans, and Cabanyó peaks.

It consists of a suspended metal sphere 25 metres in diameter with a width of 1.25 metres suspended over the ground and with views of the lakes of Tristaina and the Ordino valley.

The viewpoint is open all year round and can be reached by hiking, although depending on the weather conditions it can be a more advanced level excursion, especially in winter. When the resort is open in winter and summer, access is facilitated by the Tristaina gondola and the Creussans chairlift. It is advisable to consult the timetables beforehand.

Ordino Arcalís is part of Grandvalira Resort

In 2018, with the integration of the Ordino Arcalís resort into the Grandvalira brand, Grandvalira Resorts was born. During the 2022-2023 season, Pal Arinsal will join this union, adding a total of 308 skiable km and placing Grandvalira Resorts among the top European ski destinations in terms of surface area.

With the union of all the Alpine ski resorts in Andorra, the Andorra Pass ski pass is born and access to the 3 resorts with a single ski pass becomes a reality. On the other hand, the Nord Pass ski passes allow skiing in the resorts of Pal Arinsal and Ordino Arcalís.

This integration is also apparent in the new updated corporate image. The corporate colour of Ordino Arcalís is a nod to Grandvalira’s blue, but much more intense and elegant. It symbolises the union but keeps the personality of the most quintessential alpine resort in Andorra.

40th Anniversary of Ordino Arcalís

This season marks the 40th anniversary since Ordino parish residents began the Ordino Arcalís resort project, which first became operational over Easter 1983, with three surface lifts and one chairlift. 1983-1984 was the first season in which it became fully operational, starting with six groomed slopes. Over the years, the domain, boasting a special location thanks to its north-facing orientation, which makes it one of the resorts with the best snow quality in the Pyrenees, has grown. It now has more lifts and slopes to reach the current 30 skiable kilometres and hundreds of hectares for practising freeride, a discipline in which it has become a benchmark, as evidenced by the fact that since 2015 one of the Freeride World Tour events has been held here every year. 2018 was a key year in the history of the resort with the integration of Grandvalira Resorts, a moment that marked the first step towards the current single ski pass.
