Ordino Arcalís premieres the snow season in Andorra with more than 3,500 skiers at the weekend

The snowfall of Saturday night has left 15 cm of new snow, which allows to consolidate the previous thicknesses.

Satisfaction among the users of the Grandvalira season pass, who have also been able to ski in Ordino Arcalís.

Arcalís, November 17, 2019 - Weekend of the premiere of the snow season in Andorra with a positive balance from the Ordino Arcalís station. Some 3,500 people among skiers with season pass and day pass wanted to inaugurate it. This is a special season, as Ordino Arcalís recovers the exclusive season pass for its slopes; and in the same way, for the first time all Grandvalira skiers have the option of skiing at Ordino Arcalís included. This has been transferred to the slopes, where many users of the Grandvalira ski pass wanted to start this weekend on the slopes of the Ordino resort. Until 3 May the station will be operational every day, hoping to reach the figure of 170 days of opening.

Much expectation this Saturday morning at the foot of the Tristaina cable car to start the snow season in the Principality. The announcement of the opening of the slopes, as had been planned in the sector of the Coma, was more than expected news for skiers and economic agents who depend on this sector. And is that the fact of being able to enjoy this sport so soon the Principality is an atypical fact and has been very well received. A total of 2,000 skiers during the day on Saturday and about 1,500 on Sunday have been responsible for putting color to the ski slopes.

Snow dust and opening of more facilities and tracks

The tracks in the Coma area have been connected to the base of l'Hortell. The Basera chairlift has also been fitted out, providing a further alternative for clients, up to the Cap de la Coma. This Sunday, and thanks to the light snowfall that has been registered during the night of Saturday, with 10-15 cm more, it was possible to open the track of the Canaleta, that added to the track Basera and El Pont have allowed to offer an exit more towards the base. The percentage of open tracks has been around 40%. The weather has accompanied, Saturday was a sunny day and during the night has fallen a light snowfall that has left about 15 cm more to the highest heights, and that has made the skiing day on Sunday has combined times of sunshine with light snowfalls in the early morning. During the week it is expected the conditioning of more tracks and facilities, as weather forecasts advance, on which depends the work of the field team. Other services will also be conditioned, such as the School (which has already been operational since the Hortell), the snow garden and will gradually open all restaurants.

Grandvalira Resorts

One of the great novelties of the season following the integration of Ordino Arcalís with Grandvalira has been the benefit of having included the pass to Ordino station with all the forfaits. This fact has been very well received among Grandvalira's season pass customers, who with their pass have been able to access Ordino Arcalís station and premiere the season at the same time. The official opening date of the Grandvalira tracks is 30 Novembe.
