Ordino Arcalís opens access to the Tristaina Solar Viewpoint this Saturday, 4 June

The resort is starting the summer season early with the opening of the Creussans chairlift and the La Coma restaurant

The Tristaina cable car will open in mid-June, along with the rest of the offerings at Grandvalira Resorts

The Ordino Arcalís resort is kicking off the summer season this Saturday, 4 June with the opening of the Creussans chairlift up to the Tristaina Solar Viewpoint. The lift will be operating weekends, and from 23 June onwards it will run every day, as will the La Coma restaurant, which will also open this Saturday. Additionally, the Refugi de Sorteny, which has been open every day since 1 May, is giving travellers the opportunity to spend a night in the valley and enjoy the best of alpine gastronomy.

The Tristaina cable car will open in mid-June, along with the rest of the Grandvalira Resorts facilities, like the Mon(t) Magic Family Park, the Soldeu golf course, the extensive selection of restaurants available in the domain during summer, the Funicamp, as well as the Pioners cable car and the Isards chairlift in Pas de la Casa.

EXCURSIONS TO THE SOLAR VIEWPOINT AND THE TRISTAINA LAKES

The star excursion of the summer is to take the Creussans chairlift up to the Tristaina Solar Viewpoint, located at 2,700 metres of elevation.  The lift will be open weekends from this Saturday until 19 June, then from 23 June to 11 September it will be operating every day between 9:00 a.m. and 4:15 p.m. Plus, between 17 September and 1 November, the chairlift will reopen again on weekends only.

The Tristaina Solar Viewpoint, a ring 25 metres in diameter offering 360 degree panoramic views, was the big new attraction of last summer and received nearly 85,000 visitors. The monument, shaped like a sundial and providing views of the Tristaina Lakes, is a tribute to the significance of the Arcalís peak as the ‘solar mountain’ and to the book of the same name by Bonaventura Adellach, which reveals the discovery he made on this mountain in relation to the solar calendar used by primitive shepherds to tell time.

GASTRONOMY WITH A VIEW AT LA COMA

La Coma restaurant is a great place to try typical Andorran gastronomy with a spectacular backdrop. It will also open this Saturday and will be operating weekends, but from 23 June onwards it will be open every day from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. With a terrace located at 2,200 metres of elevation, La Coma restaurant is especially known for the delicious grilled meats on its menu, as well as local cold cuts and rice dishes.

DISCONNECT IN THE SORTENY VALLEY

The Sorteny valley, part of a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve along with all of Ordino parish, is the perfect place for anyone who loves history, science and learning about the beauty of the Andorran mountain landscapes. Spanning 1,080 hectares, the Vall de Sorteny Natural Park is cultural heritage of Ordino parish, located below the Ordino Arcalís ski resort.

This valley is home to the Sorteny Mountain Shelter, open every day since 1 May. With 6 rooms and capacity for 50 people, it is the best way to spend the night in the valley surrounded by some of the most beautiful landscapes in the Pyrenees. The shelter is also a great option to simply stop for a bite to eat. The restaurant has a terrace with spectacular views of the Ordino valley, and its menu has traditional Andorran dishes like escudella and trinxat. Plus, for those who want a private experience, the adjacent Cabana Vaquer room has now been opened, with capacity for 12 people and the option for a custom menu.

UNIQUE ACCOMMODATION OPTIONS WITH EPIC ANDORRA

Two other options for experiencing a night in the heart of nature during summer come from Epic Andorra. First is the Cabana Piolet, located at 2,150 metres of elevation in the Grau Roig sector of Grandvalira, between the Pessons y Collels cirque glacier; the other is the Domo Lodge, also in the Grau Roig sector, at 2,305 metres of elevation and with capacity for up to 4 people.
